Students shine at NCPRSA InSpire Awards

Carolina Ad Team finishes strong at nationals
First, they took the District 3 competition, beating out seven teams from North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia with their ad campaign for Mary Kay Cosmetics. Then, the Carolina team members in the National Student Advertising Competition went to the nationals in Boca Raton, and placed sixth in the grueling final round. More than 100 teams participated in the competition this year, according to Carolina team adviser Joe Bob Hester. Team members are Taylor Baird, Maddy Baldwin, Molly Ball, Justine Berger, Jimmy Branley, Karly Brooks, Alex Brusko, Megan Canjar, Scott Dobbin, Emily Halstenberg, Russ Holler, Bekah Meyers, Renee Montpetit, Elyse Schaefer, Janie Sircey, Ashley Templeton, Jonathan Unger, Laura Vroom, and Sophie Wolf. Sarah Ann Rhodes (BA-2014) has accepted an apprenticeship with Schmidt Public Affairs in Alexandria, Virginia, an agency focusing primarily on health care clients and issues.
- Erica Yamauchi (BA-2005; MA-2010) was elected president-elect of the PRSA Hawaii Chapter. She works as social marketing director for Project Kealahou, an organization that collaborates with state child-services agencies, communities and families to nurture healthy relationships, well-being and community connections for Hawai'i's girls.
